Under the guidance of the artist Bastien Conus<\/a>, the children will experiment with the technique of suminagashi\u2014a Japanese art that involves creating floating patterns on the surface of water with ink, then transferring them onto paper\u2014to create a collective film in which the water takes on life and sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to legend, suminagashi originated in court games at the end of the Heian period (12th century). It is said to have been passed on to Jiyaemon Hiroba by the Shinto deity Kazuga Miyojin at the temple in Nara in recognition of his devotion. Long kept secret, the practice is now accessible to all, in a joyful and creative contemplative approach.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
